Bat bites

Halloween is coming up fast and it's time to find some treats to serve at all your spooky parties! These Bat Bites are just too cute and super easy to put together. Yes, bats are usually creepy, scary creatures - but these little guys are adorable AND delicious. You won't be afraid to gobble these little guys up!

Ingredients:

  • Package of Oreo Thins
  • Mini Reese's Cups
  • Pre-made cream cheese frosting
  • Candy eyes

Directions:

  1. Separate your Oreo cookies from their icing and break each cookie into two pieces. These will be your bat wings.

  3. Place your 'bat wing' with icing on your unwrapped Mini Reese's Cup. Repeat with another piece of cookie. Your bat should now have a body and two wings!

Ghost Meringues

Are you looking for a spooktacular dessert for your upcoming Halloween party? Well look no further! These Ghost Meringues are easy to make, plus they look adorable!

All you need to whip these up are eggs, cream of tartar, sugar and black decorating icing gel. Doesn't get much easier than that! They're best eaten the day-of, but you can store them for up to 2 days in an airtight container.

Ingredients:

  • 4 egg whites
  • 1/2 tsp cream of tartar
  • 1 cup sugar
  • Black decorating icing gel

Directions:

  1. Preheat oven to 225 degrees.
  2. Using an electric mixer, whip the egg whites for a few minutes on high speed until they become frothy (you will see lots of little bubbles).
  3. Next, add your sugar in small amounts.
  4. Finally, mix in the cream of tartar.
  5. Continue to whip the mixture until it gets stiff (it should hold a shape when stopped).
  6. Prepare your baking sheet with a layer of foil covered with non-stick spray.
  7. Place the meringue mixture into an icing bag.
  8. Using your icing bag and a large round icing tip, continually press the meringue mixture directly down onto the foil. Press down and lift up to create layered stacks for each ghost (release the pressure just a tiny bit, pulling up on your frosting bag at the same time in between each layer).
  9. Bake them for about 45 minutes or until the tops become a little brown.
  10. Once they are completely cooled, they will harden and be ready to decorate with black gel frosting!
  11. Add eyes and mouths to your ghost with the black gel icing.
  12. Store in an air tight container for up to 2 days.

Floating eyeball jello

If you want a recipe that will leave people speechless...then you need to make this Floating Eyeball Jello! This creepy dish is perfect for Halloween or birthday parties for little boys (who think it's fun to eat disgusting things!). If you can't find gummy eyeballs near you, they're available online . Enjoy!

Ingredients:

  • 2 cups white grape juice (chilled)
  • 2 envelopes unflavored gelatin powder
  • 1 cup of colorless soda (like ginger ale or Sprite)
  • 16-24 gummy eyeballs
  • shot glasses

Directions:

  1. Pour 1/2 cup of grape juice and unflavored gelatin powder in a large bowl. Whisk and let sit for 10 minutes.
  2. Place the bowl in the microwave for 20 seconds (or until the gelatin has liquified).
  3. Combine the remaining grape juice with your soda in a large measuring cup.
  4. Add your grape juice and gelatin mixture to the large measuring cup and stir to combine.
  5. Pour this mixture into your shot glasses and refrigerate for 30 minutes. You want the gelatin to be thick, but not totally firm.
  6. Once the gelatin has thickened up, remove the shot glasses from the fridge and push a gummy eyeball into the glass. You can add more than one eyeball in each glass if you like.
  7. Once you're finished adding the eyeballs, return your shot glasses to the fridge to completely harden (this should take about 2 hours but leaving them for 24 hours is best). Enjoy!

Cookie monster brownies

Cookie Monster is all the rage this year, and these Cookie Monster Brownies are the perfect addition for a themed party, Halloween, or really, any old day when you’re craving a novelty treat to take care of that sweet tooth.

These brownies are so simple to make from a boxed mix, and it’s too much fun decorating with candy eyeballs and crushed cookies at the end! This dessert is uber sweet, so there’s plenty to share - why not give it a try?

Ingredients:

For the brownies:
  • 16 Oreo cookies
  • 1 box brownie mix + ingredients required on the box
  • 8 ounces refrigerated chocolate chip cookie dough
For the frosting:
  • ½ cup salted butter
  • 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 2 tablespoons heavy cream
  • 2 cups powdered sugar
  • 6 Oreo cookies, crushed
  • Blue food coloring
For the chocolate layer:
  • 1/2 cup semisweet chocolate chips
  • 1/4 cup heavy cream
  • 1 tablespoon light corn syrup
  • Mini chocolate chip cookies, for garnish
  • Mini Oreo cookies, for garnish
  • Candy eyeballs

Directions:

  1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Prepare an 8x8 baking dish with parchment paper and nonstick spray.
  2. To make the brownie layer, spread Oreo cookies in a single layer in the bottom of the prepared baking dish.
  3. Prepare brownie mix according to box instructions in a large mixing bowl, then pour the batter evenly over the Oreo cookies.
  4. Break the cookie dough off into pieces and press randomly into the brownie mix.
  5. Bake about 30 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted comes out with chocolatey crumbs. Cool completely on a wire rack.
  6. For the frosting, beat together the butter, cream, and vanilla extract until smooth. Add the powdered sugar in slowly, then beat another couple of minutes until well-combined. Fold in the crushed Oreos, then add the blue food coloring until frosting reaches your desired shade of blue. Spread the frosting evenly on top of the cooled brownie layer.
  7. To make the chocolate layer, microwave together the chocolate chips and heavy cream on 20-second intervals, stirring in between, until smooth.
  8. Add in the light corn syrup and allow to cool and thicken.
  9. Drizzle the chocolate sauce over the frosting layer, then press mini chocolate chip and Oreo cookies, then place 2 candy eyeballs in random spots on top.
  10. Slice into bars and serve. Enjoy!

Pumpkin pretzel bites

Don't have time to make an elaborate Halloween themed dessert? No problem! These Pumpkin Pretzel Bites are delicious and super easy to make.

They're sweet, salty and crunchy all in one bite, and will keep in an airtight container for weeks! This recipe is totally a winner in my books.

Directions:

  1. Place your pretzels on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.
  2. Top each pretzel with a chocolate candy melt.
  3. Place the baking sheet in the oven under the broiler until the chocolate has softened up. You don't want them to be runny, but just melted enough so that you can press the M&Ms into it.
  4. When the chocolate has melted remove the tray from the oven and place 7 orange Mini M&Ms and 1 green Mini M&M on the chocolate in the shape of a pumpkin.
  5. Once the chocolate has hardened they're ready to eat!

Frozen Cookie Cheesecake Sandwich

There is nothing better in the summer time than a good old ice cream sandwich! The crunchy chocolate chip cookie paired with a perfect ice cream sandwich. Two of my favorite things combined!

image via: shared.com

I am all about ice cream but there came a time where I wanted to switch it up just a little. What kind of treat could I have that mimicked an ice cream sandwich but would be able to sustain sitting out as a treat for guests during one of my famous summer BBQ's. Suddenly it came to me... ok no it came to the internet... the perfect idea!

Frozen cookie cheesecake sandwiches! First off who doesn't love a good cheesecake, combine that center layer between a cookie?! YES PLEASE! Ok how did I not think of this before? Perfect cookie layers with a soft cream cheese center.

These took me two seconds to make, only a few ingredients and they were the perfect cool snack on a  hot summer day. They are great for little ones, a lot less messy than regular ice cream sandwiches. The added layer of chocolate just tops it off with at perfect amount of added sweetness. Try these out for your family at home, I promise they won't disappoint!

Individual Layered Dips

During the summer I host a ton of BBQ's and get-together's with family and friends. My house always seems to be the hub of all the activity all the time. I love to entertain and with that comes the constant need to have food and munchies to feed everyone.

As much as I love to cook I can't say I always love spending hours over intricate, fancy appetizers and meals. I do love to experiment and try new things, but I also love something simple and classic.

This layered nacho dip is exactly one of those simple, yet classic appetizers that never has any remainders. It takes me all of 3 seconds to assemble and is gone within minutes. With guacamole and refried beans, simple salsa and cream cheese dip becomes relatively filling. The flavors pair perfectly together and the layering gives the perfect amount of flavor in every bite! Give this quick and easy dip a try for your next get together and save your self time and keep your guests wanting more!

Unicorn crispy treats

My kids are obsessed with Rice Krispies cereal. They would eat it for ever meal if I let them. Constantly asking me to make them for their lunches. Mostly I think because they want to help make them.

I try to switch up the recipe every so often and came across this one! The bright colors with added chocolate drizzle was simple yet, eye catching and added the perfect fruity flavor twist.

Fruity Crisps already being another staple in our house when it comes to breakfast time, couldn't have been more perfect. I already had marshmallows and white chocolate chips left over from baking that saved me from having to make a special trip to the grocery store to make them!

Perfect for an afternoon snack or a treat for the kids lunches, these krispie treats might have just become our new favorite! Bright and colorful, soft and sweet, make these the best little snack the whole family will love!Want some more Rice Krispie ideas? Check out:
